Actor Vipin Sharma, who essayed the father to the protagonist in Taare Zameen Par, plays the “intense” part of a politician in Sudhir Mishra’s Daas Dev.
Vipin said in a statement: “‘Daas Dev’ is a fierce political drama and I play an interesting role of a politician who has his own complex notions and feels it is absolutely fine to shed blood for the welfare of your people. It is an intense and a complex character indeed.”
The actor has earlier appeared in films like Paan Singh Tomar, Gangs of Wasseypur, Raanjhanaa, Shahid, Raman Raghav to name a few.
Set in Uttar Pradesh, Daas Dev has a political backdrop. It is about addiction, power and love, and follows a path contrary to the plot of the classic novel Devdas.
The character played by Sharma is loosely based on Chunnilal from the original novel written by Bengali author Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.
Daas Dev is slated for release on March 9.
