In a time where films rarely complete a month long run at the box office, Salman Khan’s spy thriller Tiger Zinda Hai has proved out to be the game changer and emerged as a victor by completing 40 days on the big screen.
Salman’s last offering to his fans Tiger Zinda Hai, a sequel to Ek Tha Tiger, is in its sixth week now and besides the mammoth success of the film TZH has one more achievement to add to its wall of fame.
On January 30, the film completed its 40th day at the box office and has maintained to remain strong despite new releases like 1921, Kaalakaandi and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film minted over Rs 21 lakh on its 40th day in the sixth week.
The film is not only shattering the box office records but is also making a significant mark in terms of the film’s exceptional dream run.
From the looks of the scenario, the film will most probably enter the seventh week and will complete a historical feat of 50-day run at the silver screen.
As per reports, the film is still enjoying a good number of screens in single screens and multiplexes.
With no major release lined up for 2 February, Tiger Zinda Hai just might make history and dethrone Aamir Khan’s PK as the second highest earning Bollywood film. But going by the collections of the film in its sixth week, it is quite a tough job to pull as the film needs to collect additional Rs.2.5 crore in the coming days to surpass PK‘s gross collection of Rs.340 crore.
But as of now the film has indeed another reason to be proud of by still going strong at the box office in its 40 day long run despite all the big releases the film faced.
Tiger Zinda Hai marks Salman’s second outing with director Ali Abbas Zafar and fifth film with actor Katrina Kaif. The second installment in the Tiger film series was released on December 22, 2017.
