Tamil superstar Vijay’s Diwali release, Bigil, has fared even better than big Hindi film releases like Housefull 4.
Bigil has crossed the Rs 100-crore mark worldwide in just three days since release.
Directed by Atlee Kumar, Bigil is the big Tamil release of the ongoing festive season.
Vijay is known as Thalapathy to Tamilian fans and his latest continues its winning streak at the box-office.
Industry tracker and columnist Sreedhar Pillai tweeted: “#Bigil does it in style in super fast time, crosses 100 cr worldwide in 3 days! Extraordinary! Phenomenal! #ThalapathyVijay @Atlee_dir @Ags_production @archanakalpathi.”
Trade analyst and film critic Ramesh Bala also shared the film’s business on social media. He wrote on Twitter: “#Bigil has taken more than 100 crs+ Opening at the WW Box Office.. Congrats #Thalapathy @actorvijay, #Nayanthara.”
Bigil is Vijay’s third collaboration with Atlee after Theri and Mersal.
Both of his earlier films were blockbusters.
The film is a sports action film that has Vijay in dual roles as father and son. As the father, he plays a local don and as the son, he is the coach of a women’s football team. The actor underwent intensive training for the coach’s character.
Bigil has been receiving positive reviews from both audiences and critics alike.
The film also starrs Nayanthara, Jackie Shroff, ogi Babu, Rohini, Daniel Balaji, G Gnanasambandam among others.
Music of the film has been composed by AR Rahman and bankrolled on a budget of Rs 180 crores.
