Sunflower 2 actor Sunil Grover shifts focus to excelling his craft

Actor and comedian Sunil Grover, widely recognized for his iconic roles as Gutthi and Dr. Mashoor Gulati, reflects on his journey in the entertainment industry. Initially seeking acknowledgment from the film fraternity in the ’90s, Grover’s aspirations have evolved over time. Now, at 46, he strives for excellence in his craft rather than mere recognition.

Grover, known for his versatility in both television and films, including projects like ‘Jawan’, ‘Baaghi’, ‘Pataakha’, and ‘Pyar To Hona Hi Tha’, shares his passion for delving into the psychology of his characters. “My desire now is to excel at what I do, play different characters, and be part of beautiful stories,” he expresses.

In an interview, Grover elaborates on his love for understanding and embodying diverse personas on screen. “Irrespective of whether I get it right or wrong…to understand and live that character is what I love doing the most,” he says, emphasizing his dedication to the art of acting.

Hailing from Sirsa and holding a master’s degree in theatre from Panjab University, Grover’s journey from theatre to television was serendipitous. Discovered during his college days by the late satirist Jaspal Bhatti, Grover found solace in acting, transcending fame and the length of roles.

Currently starring in the second season of ‘Sunflower’ on ZEE5, Grover expresses gratitude for being cast in his first lead role. Reflecting on the significance of trust from the makers, he acknowledges their faith in him, paving the way for newfound confidence.

Looking ahead, Sunil Grover is reuniting with Kapil Sharma for the upcoming Netflix series ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’. Amidst his professional endeavors, Grover emphasizes the importance of health, having undergone bypass surgery in 2022. “Health is wealth,” he asserts, urging everyone to prioritize their well-being.

As ‘Sunflower’ continues to captivate audiences with its intriguing storyline, Grover’s portrayal of the humorous yet enigmatic character Sonu Singh adds depth to the narrative. With a stellar ensemble cast, including Ashish Vidyarthi, Ranvir Shorey, Mukul Chaddha, Girish Kulkarni, and Adah Sharma, the series promises an engaging viewing experience.
