Vikram and Pa Ranjith’s much-anticipated film “Thangalaan” is set to delve into the untold saga behind the legendary Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in Karnataka. Promising to uncover the essence of why India was once hailed as the ‘golden bird’ by the British, this cinematic venture aims to shed light on the valor and resilience of the people who safeguarded the mines from colonial exploitation.

Scheduled to hit the screens in April this year, “Thangalaan” ventures back to the 19th century, painting a vivid picture of life in pre-Independence India. The narrative intricately weaves together the struggles of the KGF residents as they devise ingenious methods to thwart the oppressors and preserve their precious resources.

In a teaser released last November, audiences were given a glimpse into the intensity and grit of the film. Chiyaan Vikram, in a remarkable transformation, portrays a character grappling with adversities, confronting both inner and outer demons. The teaser, albeit intense with its graphic portrayal, captures the raw essence of the era, immersing viewers into a world fraught with danger and defiance.

Joining Vikram on this captivating journey are an ensemble cast including Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohannan, Pasupathi, Muthukumar, Hari Krishnan, Preethi, Arjun Prabhakaran, and the esteemed Hollywood actor Daniel Goldragon. With music scored by the talented GV Prakash, the film promises a sensory treat, transporting audiences to a bygone era filled with intrigue and heroism.

Produced by Studio Green, in association with Suriya’s Kanguva, “Thangalaan” is not just a Tamil affair but will also reach audiences across Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi-speaking regions, ensuring its tale resonates far and wide.

As anticipation mounts and excitement builds, “Thangalaan” stands poised to carve its place in the annals of cinematic history, offering a compelling narrative that celebrates the indomitable spirit of a nation striving for freedom and identity amidst the shadows of colonial rule.
