2018 is turning out to be an exceptional year for Indian cinema with multiple films releasing in China and setting new benchmarks at the box office. Now, it’s SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2, which is all set to be released in the neighboring country.
Baahubali: The Conclusion, starring Prabhas and Rana Daggubati in the lead roles, broke all records at the time of its release, becoming the highest grossing in film in India and the second highest grossing film worldwide.
The film is yet again set to break box office records in a country, which has become a proving ground for many Hindi films like Dangal (Rs 1200-crore), Secret Superstar (Rs 750-crore) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 290-crore) at the box office.
Fans and critics alike speculate that history is going to repeat itself as Baahubali 2 is one of the most acclaimed and successful films of all time with a standing of Rs 1700-crore at the box office worldwide. The film just might beat Aamir Khan’s Dangal‘s collections and become the highest grossing Indian film ever, they say.
However, Baahubai: The Beginning was not a success story in China in comparison to its collection in other countries, where it scored huge figures at the box office.
Owing to its strong word of mouth and the recent honours it received at the 65th National Film Awards, the film will witness a huge release and is eagerly awaited by the Chinese audiences.
If that turns out to be the scenario then Baahubali 2 will emerge and surpass Dangal as the biggest Indian film ever and once again create history after almost a year of its worldwide release back in 2017.
Interestingly, not just the numbers at the box office but Baahubali 2‘s release in China proves that there is a much bigger market for Indian films there as it is the fourth film after Secret Superstar, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Hindi Medium in 2018 to get a major release.
Directed by SS Rajamouli, Baahubali: The Conclusion is all set to release in China on May 4.
