Eight years have passed since the first ever installment of the Dabangg series hit the theatres; September 10, 2010, to be precise. The Salman Khan-Sonakshi Sinha starrer went on to become a super-hit, resulting in the release of Dabangg 2 in 2012.
Dabangg 2 was a super-hit is old news now. The latest news is that Dabangg 3 is on its way, if feelers from the celebrations of the Dabangg anniversary are anything to go by.

Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha celebrated the film’s eighth anniversary with throwback pictures and shared them on their social media handles.
But there is more in store for the Bollywood buffs as both Salman and Sonakshi have suggested that the third installment, tentatively titled Dabangg 3, is on its way.
Salman shared a still from the film Dabangg featuring Sonakshi and himself and captioned it, “Aaj 8 saal Ho Gaye Dabangg Ko… thank u for all the appreciation and love from Rajjo and Chulbul Pandey…see u in #Dabangg3 next year”
Sonakshi also shared a still with the caption, “8 years of #Dabangg, 8 years of #chulbulandrajjo, 8 years of me doing what i love the most! Thank you @beingsalmankhan, @arbaazkhanofficial, #AbhinavKashyap for making me realize my calling! And thank YOU all, for all the love see u in #dabangg3 next year!!! “
Sonakshi made her acting debut with Dabangg and won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.

Dabangg was directed by Abhinav Kashyap while Dabangg 2 was directed by Arbaaz Khan. To take over the charge for Dabangg 3 ace choreographer Prabhu Deva has been roped in.
