Known for his fiery, hard-hitting lyrics and bringing the gully to life with his songs, rapper and Indian hip-hop’s trailblazer, Divine is back with his brand new single Roots, featuring Raja Kumari.

The music video was produced by the Sony music, and shot in the woods of Victoria, British Columbia. Canadian director Shiraz Higgins was at the helm of the project and was given full creative control to interpret the song and visualise the video.

Divine and Raja Kumari spit out the verses with their trademark ferocity on beats laid down by Los Angeles-based K-Major who has worked with hip-hop giants like Usher, French Montana, Future to name a few.

Divine says, “Roots is the second single off my first ever ep. It’s a very special track for me cause the moment I heard the beat I was in love with it. Kumari was the best to be on that track, love the way she comes in and kills it. Bass ke saath bars sunna hai hip hop mein tho sunna phir.”

Raja Kumari also spoke about the new release, she said,“I am so excited to be here in India releasing our new record ROOTS. Working with Divine is always a blessing and I hope the fans enjoy this song as much as we enjoyed making it.”

Arjun Sankalia, Head International Music, Sony Music India, adds on, “Roots is a song that is about Divine’s origins, things that keep him grounded, things that are close to him and that have got him where he is today. We are proud to release his single with the defiant Raja Kumari who has carved a niche for herself in India.”
