From the moment the One Direction started out, fans seemed to freak out over them. With that army of fans, the band has witnessed unprecedented heights of success.
As for me, I could never understand what made the five boys of the band- Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik (who has left since 2015) — so attractive. However, they never failed to make us smile, be it from blind admiration of a crazy fan or the crooked grin from someone like me, realising that anybody can sing, if not better than, them.
That doesn’t mean they are bad singers, but that they do not consider the most significant part of their job, which is to write or impart melody to most of the songs they sing. For instance, the songs like Summer Love and Little Things are written by the English singer-songwriter known as Ed Sheeran and not by One Direction. However, not everything about them is bad.
Like their albums, they are also at their best while performing on the stage. The notes of songs such as Right Now and History are really praiseworthy. Other songs like What Makes You Beautiful, Night Changes and Gotta Be You, with their amazing vocals, never fails to uplift the spirits of the audiences.
Another one called Stockholm Syndrome, written by the band member Harry Styles, producer Julian Bunetta and song writers John Ryan and Johan Carlsson, is a commendable presentation with a beautiful meaning. It looks at the emotion of love from the perspective of the Stockholm syndrome, when after getting kidnapped the victim develops a kind of affection and trust towards the kidnapper.
The song Diana written by John Ryan, Jullian Bunetta, another song writer Jamie Scott and the members Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, is worth mentioning.
Its tune is wonderful and provides exactly the thing one needs when feeling lonely. As Jullian had said that the song is an accurate depiction of loneliness someone can feel in such a huge world.
Besides that, it can also be interpreted on many other levels. However, there is a huge misconception about the song that it is about Diana, the princess of Wales. One Direction gives out an energetic vibe, which resonates in the strong unity they have as a band and is one of the main reasons that makes them loveable.
