From a girl next door to a RAW agent, from supporting roles to leading ones,
one of the finest actors of B-town, Radhika Apte certainly exemplifies every
character with her radiant acting. Often hailed for her critically acclaimed roles
both in OTT and mainstreams, the actress has multiple hits in her kitty. She’s
fierce yet simple, assertive yet tender, and her transition to roles is remarkably
powerful and natural.

The actress began acting in theatres and started her career with a brief role in
Hindi fantasy film ‘Wah! Life ho to aisi’ in 2005. She bagged her first lead role
in the Bengali film Antaheen. The actress never limited herself to any specific
genre and language and gained praise for her supporting roles in films like
Badlapur or Manjhi- The Mountain man. Then there was no looking back for
the actress. Hailed as the queen of OTT, Apte delivered her best in Netflix
originals Lust Stories and Sacred Games.

On her birthday today let’s look back at some of her best performances.

Manjhi- The Mountain Man

In Ketan Mehta’s directorial biopic Manjhi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui played the titular role, but Apte held his own with her impressive portray of Falguni Devi. The story though weaved with simplicity is hard-hitting and has many moments to ponder upon.

Padman

A social drama inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the film
is a social commentary on menstrual hygiene where Radhika Apte acted as the
muse of Akshay Kumar. She effortlessly swiped into the skin of Gayatri and
managed to strike the right chords here as well.

Lust Stories

In Netflix anthology Lust Stories Apte played the role of Kalindi, a married
professor having an affair with a student. The mental conflict oscillating in
the mind, the guilt and pleasure, the riots of emotions, the bravado of gestures,
Apte nailed every bit of it. Kalindi remains one of the most celebrated roles
so far.

Sacred Games

Netflix crime thriller Sacred Games featured Radhika Apte as an iron-willed
RAW agent Anjali Mathur. The actress stole the show with her raw and gritty
performance and commendable presence. The critically acclaimed thriller also
starred Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui making it an edge-of-seat
watch.

Andhadhun

A black comedy crime thriller by Sriram Raghavan, Andhadhun is the story of a
visually unpaired pianist getting unintentionally intertwined in a murder
mystery where Radhika played the role of Ayushmann Khurrana’s love interest.
The actress gave an outstanding performance doing justice to her limited screen time.

Radhika Apte has some promising projects lined up in her kitty to release next.
The actress stars in Gayatri- Pushkar’s most anticipated action thriller ‘Vikram
Vedha’ featuring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan those releases on September 30.

The actress also has Vasan Bala’s crime drama ‘Monica, O My Darling’ featuring Rajkumar Rao in the pipeline. Apte is currently busy in the making of the thriller series ‘Shantaram’ based on the novel by Gregory David Roberts.
