Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man, which opened to positive reviews, despite a good start at the box office, slowed down on first Monday and witnessed a huge drop.
Pad Man had a good start by opening to double digits at the box office and continue to do so over the first weekend by minting over Rs 41-crore. But the film didn’t pass the crucial Monday test as the figures are not so impressive.
According to Taran Adarsh, Pad Man earned Rs 5.87-crore on Monday, taking the total collections of the film to Rs 45.92-crore.
This is a huge drop for the film after a solid Sunday, where the film collected approximately Rs 17-crore. The film’s first Monday collection might be the second highest figures after Padmaavat but it is Akshay’s first film in recent years to have witnessed such a drop on the fourth day.
Despite all the promotional strategies, positive word of mouth and shift in release date Pad Man indeed needs to pick up the pace in the first week before it faces another competition from Aiyaary.
Nonetheless, Pad Man is enjoying a decent run at the box office worldwide, as the film will gross Rs 100-crore in the first week. But to say the same about the film’s collection is India is too early.
Directed by R Balki, Pad Man was released worldwide on February 9.
