Emraan Hashmi is stepping into the shoes of a revered freedom fighter, Ram Manohar Lohia, in the upcoming historical thriller drama film, ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan.’ Recently, the makers treated fans to a glimpse of Emraan’s striking portrayal through a captivating poster, which has stirred up excitement among movie enthusiasts.
In the poster shared on Instagram by streaming platform Prime Video, Emraan Hashmi is seen donning a blue Nehru jacket and a white Nehru cap, exuding the essence of the fearless voice of independence. With black spectacles perched on his nose, he raises his hand in a powerful gesture, encapsulating the spirit of Lohia’s legacy.

Expressing his joy and honor in essaying the role of Ram Manohar Lohia, Emraan Hashmi remarked, “I have never before played the role of a freedom fighter, and getting the opportunity to step into the shoes of Ram Manohar Lohia was an absolute honor.” He further shared his experience of collaborating closely with the directors, Kannan and Darab, to imbue his portrayal with authenticity and flair.
‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’ narrates a fictional tale set against the backdrop of India’s Quit India Movement in 1942, drawing inspiration from real events. The film pays tribute to both celebrated and unsung heroes, capturing the bravery, patriotism, sacrifice, and resilience demonstrated by the youth of India during the freedom struggle.
Directed by Kannan Iyer and written by Iyer and Darab Farooqui, the film boasts a stellar cast including Sara Ali Khan, Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O’Neil, and Anand Tiwari, with a special guest appearance by Emraan Hashmi.
