The makers of Omerta, an upcoming crime thriller inspired by true events, have released the trailer online. Lead actor Rajkummar Rao will be essaying the character of a British terrorist of Pakistani descent Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. The trailer begins with Rajkummar, a trainee with a terrorist group whose mission is to spread the spirit of ‘jihad’ across the globe. He has been warned about the dangerous path but Omar takes up the assignment with sheer confidence. Rajkummar could be seen prepping himself throughout for his goal, in a bespectacled and bearded look. He appears quite convincing for his role.

The baffling dark world of terrorism is explored in the trailer of Omerta. It ends with a spine-chilling scream, which is startling and painful at the same time and will echo in your ears. The moments from the trailer that would stay with you is when Rajkummar is asked who he is and he answers,” I am the savior,”  and as he climbs the police van with a smile on his face that is nothing but evil.

Rajkummar Rao is spectacular in the trailer itself, which totally intriguing and promises a story that would keep you glued to your seat. The film will narrate the stories of some of the deadliest terror attacks in history, such as the 1994 Delhi kidnappings, the 9/11 World Trade Center attack and the 26/11 Mumbai terror strike.  The trailer ends with the ruthless beheading of American journalist Daniel Pearl.

Talking about the film, Rajkummar Rao said at the trailer launch: “Omerta is among the most researched films that I have worked on till date. We actually visited some of the places frequented by Omar in London during his transformation from an LSE graduation student to becoming this deadly terrorist. I needed to feel and touch this man’s past – to ingest him. It was not an easy journey for me to take. With Omerta and Hansal Sir, we have a combination that will probably leave you stunned. There will be this moment of shock and silence as the end credits roll.”

Bankrolled by Swiss Entertainment with Karma Media, Omerta is scheduled to release on 20 April.
