Renowned singer Sudesh Bhosle has said even though the younger generation has a different taste for music, the songs of yesteryears will stay evergreen.

“The great music directors like Lakshmikant Pyarelal, Kalyanji-Anandji, RD (Burman), and many more have given us memorable songs and the songs by great singers like (Mohammed) Rafi, Mukesh are still in the memory of Indians and they will never be extinct,” Bhosle told reporters here last night.

According to the singer, songs of yesteryears are appreciated and respected in foreign countries too.

Bhosle will perform here tomorrow to celebrate megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s 75th birthday.

He said he was proud to be “the voice of Amitabh Bachchan”.

Asked about the ongoing controversy over Bollywood movie Padmavati, he said it was for the government and the censor board.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, featuring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, in lead roles is being opposed by certain organisations.

The Rajasthan-based Shri Rajput Karni Sena is spearheading protests against the film, alleging that it “distorts” historical facts.
