Streaming giant Netflix is expanding its anime catalogue with two awaited series. The platform is going to release two new anime series, ‘Baban Baban Ban Vampire’ and ‘Sakamoto Days,’ on January 11. Both shows are based on an eponymous manga series. ‘Baban Baban Ban Vampire’ will air weekly until the conclusion of the first chapter. On the other hand, ‘Sakamoto Days’ will be split into two parts. Part 1 will air weekly from January 11, while Part 2 will begin in July 2025.

‘Baban Baban Ban Vampire’ is an adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Hiromasa Okujima.  Its serialization started in Akita Shoten’s shōnen manga magazine Bessatsu Shōnen Champion in October 2021. The storyline focuses on Mori Ranmaru, a 450-year-old vampire. He works as a live-in part-timer at a public bathhouse. Ranmaru’s goal is to relish the blood of an 18-year-old virgin. To do so, he secretly protects the virginity of Rihito Tatsuno. Rihito is the 15-year-old son of the bathhouse owner.

However, matters escalate when Rihito hits puberty and falls in love with a classmate. To make sure he doesn’t lose his virginity, Ranmaru has to resort to extreme measures. Moreover, apart from the anime adaptation, a live-action film is going to hit Japanese theatres in February.

‘Sakamoto Days,’ on the other hand, is an adaptation of Yuto Suzuki’s hit manga. The plot follows Taro Sakamoto. He is a John Wick-style retired hitman who runs a small convenience store. However, his peaceful and tranquil life faces disruption when someone from his past forces him back to stain his hands with blood. The manga is serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump.” VIZ Media publishes it in North America.

Viz Media describes the series as- “Time has passed peacefully for Sakamoto since he left the underworld. He’s running a neighbourhood store with his lovely wife and child and has gotten a bit… out of shape. But one day a figure from his past pays him a visit with an offer he can’t refuse: return to the assassin world or die!”
