Mumbai Police’s ‘Silly Boy’ twist to Gully Boy’s trailer is hilarious

The trailer of Zoya Akhtar’s film Gully Boy which is one of the highly-anticipated films of 2019 starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt is going viral. The trailer has already crossed 17 million views on YouTube in 24 hours and has been part of many memes.

From the 2 minutes 42 seconds trailer, the dialogues “apna time aayega” and “mar jayega tu” have been part of the hilarious memes. And to join the bandwagon, Mumbai Police, added a hilarious social message to the meme.

The official Twitter handle of the Mumbai Police used Alia Bhatt’s “mar jayega tu” dialogue from the Gully Boy trailer to create awareness about road safety. The caption reads, “When he argues to ride a motorcycle without wearing helmet #SillyBoy.”

Besides Mumbai Police, Nagpur Police joined the meme game and shared a dialogue of Ranveer conveying the mindset of people during traffic.

The caption reads, “When you are frustrated with the long countdown at the Traffic Signal…Just say to yourself… #PatienceMyBoy.”

The film is about a rapper from the streets of Mumbai who wants to become famous. Despite all the discouragement Ranveer’s character is shown believing in the mantra ‘apna time aayega’ (our time will come).

During the trailer launch, director Zoya Akhtar on Ranveer Singh said, “Ranveer Singh is a method actor. If he has to rap all day, he can rap all day.”

Gully Boy stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Kalki Koechlin and is directed by Zoya Akhtar. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on 14 February 2019.
