Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra neatly dodged the questions on sexual harassment allegations against Rajkumar Hirani when reporters covering the second trailer launch of Shelly Chopra Dhar’s Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga sought his comments.

Vidhu was present with the cast of the film, Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Juhi Chawla, and it was an interacting session with the media during which the producer was asked for his response and views on the harassment charges against Sanju director.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra said, “This stage here is for something else, which is extremely important for us, as important as what you’re talking about. This opportunity we should use to talk about this and that of course, when there is a right time, we will talk about it.”

The victim has worked with Hirani on Vidhu’s production venture Sanju. In an email addressed to Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anupama Chopra, Shelly Chopra and Abhijat Joshi, the victim alleged that Hirani sexually assaulted her over a period of six months in 2018.

After the allegation surfaced earlier this month, Rajkumar Hirani’s name was dropped from Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’s promotions.

Several Bollywood celebrities including Dia Mirza, Boney Kapoor, Javed Akhtar, Arshad Warsi and Sharman joshi have extended their support to the director. On the other hand, Hirani has dismissed the allegations saying, “This is a false, malicious and mischievous story being spread with the sole intention of destroying my reputation.”

Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani has co-produced films like, Munna Bhai Series, PK, 3 Idiots and Sanju.
