Australian actor Liam Hemsworth and singer-sensation Miley Cyrus have announced their separation in less than a year since they got married.

Liam Hemsworth recently broke silence over the matter and issued a statement. In an Instagram post, The Hunger Games actor stated that his marriage is a private matter and that he will not be making any comments to any journalists or media outlets.

Sharing a picture of the setting sun, Liam’s statement read, “Hi all Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward. This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love.”

Earlier, Miley’s representative had issued a public statement regarding the same. That statement had said: “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.”

Cyrus and Hemsworth met in 2009 on the set of Nicholas Sparks’ romantic drama The Last Song which began their on-and-off relationship until 2012 when Liam proposed the “Wrecking Ball” singer. The two ended their engagement and broke up a year later, before reconciling again in 2015.

They got married on 23 December 2018.
