Did you know Ladakh opened Khardungla Pass in December especially for shoot of Arjun Rampal’s Paltan?

Director JP Dutta recreates Nathu La Pass in Ladakh for Paltan

The upcoming J P Dutta war drama, Paltan, which stars Arjun Rampal in the lead, has been shot in adverse weather conditions owing to the need of the film’s script.

Part of the film was shot in  Ladakh’s Khardungla Pass in Ladakh. Khardungla Pass usually shuts down during the harsh climates, but it was opened last December for the purpose of shooting. Locals reportedly became part of the crew as they helped the team shoot in the extreme conditions.

Things became extremely difficult at one time when the temperature dropped to -26 degrees, but none of them gave up, neither the actors nor the crew, according to reports.

The trailer of the film depicts the struggles of the Indian Army after the defeat in the 1962 India-China war and the battalion’s determination to protect the motherland at Nathu La Pass. With Paltan, JP Dutta is all set to complete his war trilogy after winning hearts with Border and LoC Kargil.

While the earlier two films showcased India’s wars with Pakistan, Paltan showcases the 1962 battle against China.

The film has an ensemble cast of Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, Harshvardhan Rane and Siddhant Kapoor among others. JP Dutta returns to the silver screen after a span of 12 years with Paltan.
