Kalank first poster is out!

First poster of the much-awaited Kalank film is out. The Abhishek Varman film is a period drama with a star cast that includes Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Kunal Khemu, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt.

The film’s story has been in development for the last 15 years under the Dharma banner, coming from Karan Johar and his father Yash Johar. The story is set against the backdrop of Partition (1947). According to Karan Johar, the film is about “turbulent relationships and eternal love”.

The team of the film shared the poster on social media, also giving a first glimpse into the character that Varun Dhawan is set to play in the film.

The actor’s character, Zafar, looks determined and fearless in the poster, and the shades of red in the background suggest a multitude of things. The film is also Dhawan’s fourth collaboration with Alia Bhatt after Student of the Year, Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya and Badrinath... The films done by the pair have done extremely well at the box office. We will also see the coming together of Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt almost after two decades.

The film has been produced by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta, and co-produced by Fox Star Studios.

Principal photography of the film began in April 2018 and it is slated to release on April 2019.
