The Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer is a hit. The film is churning numbers at a commendable rate despite criticism from various quarters. The film has surpassed the opening weekend business of Total Dhamaal which released on 3700 screens with a collection of Rs. 62.40 crores at the box office.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared figures of the film’s business on social media.
Kabir Singh released on 3123 screens despite being a non-holiday opener. According to a BOI report the film is not just minting numbers in metropolitans but also in the mass belts and Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
After Padmaavat, Kabir Singh emerges as Shahid’s highest grosser in 3 days. Friday business stands at Rs. 20.21 crores, Saturday Rs 22.71 crores, Sunday Rs. 27.91 crores making the opening weekend total collection at Rs. 70.83 crores in the domestic market.
The film’s release also broke a lot of myths. A non holiday release with an A-certificate with normal ticketing price that released during the ICC World Cup and attained a lot of criticism still emerged as a box office winner.
