Music maestro Isaignani Ilayaraja was awarded the prestigious Padma Visbhusan award along with classical musician Ghulam Mustafa Khan and thinker Parameswaran Parameswaran. The award is India’s second-highest civilian honour, which the government announced on Thursday.
Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service.
According to reports superstars like Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan have wished him in person, while many celebrities took to their Twitter accounts to wish the maestro for his achievement.
