The 92nd Academy Awards or the Oscars 2020 is all set to take place on Sunday (February 9) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Just like last year, the Oscars is going host-less this year as well. In India, the Oscars ceremony will be telecast live on Monday (February 10) at 6:30 am IST.
Live coverage of the red carpet will be streamed on Twitter @TheAcademy at 5 am. One can also tune into Hotstar, the Star India-run streaming service to watch the show live. In India, Oscars 2020 will be broadcast on Star Movies, Star Movies HD, and Star Movies Select HD.
A repeat telecast of the ceremony will be on Monday at 8:30 pm on Star Movies and Star Movies Select HD. Hotstar will also have the 2020 Oscars live stream available for a limited time.
This year, the Academy members have a tough choice to make. With a number of films that have already won at different award shows, selecting a winner will be extremely difficult.
From Joaquin Phoenix-starrer Joker to Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, there are big names which will be contending for the trophy.
Currently, Joker is leading with 11 nominations, followed by 10 nominations each to Sam Mendes-directorial war film 1917, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and The Irishman.
Other films include Christian Bale and Matt Damon’s Ford v Ferrari, Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit, Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of the 19th-century novel Little Women, and the Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver-starrer Marriage Story and Korean film Parasite.
Another change which was made for this year’s Oscars is that the foreign-language category is now called Best International Feature Film.
Korean film Parasite has been nominated in this category as well while getting nominations in the Best Picture category. Parasite is helmed by Bong Joon-ho.
