The long wait is over as the trailer of the much-awaited film of 2019—Gully Boy, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt is finally here. This is going to be the first time that both the actors will share the silver screen.

The 2 minutes 42-second trailer portrays Ranveer Singh’s journey from a struggling street boy who is passionate about rapping but unable to pursue it because of his life’s circumstances.

Ranveer’s journey from Mumbai’s streets to becoming one of India’s most remarkable rappers is clearly evident and his determination to make it big is quite visible. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt’s character is bold and outspoken and plays Ranveer’s love interest who supports him in every situation.

The rap portions of Ranveer Singh—“Tu Nanga hi toh aaya thha, kya Ghanta lekar jaayega ….” and “Kalakaar main, Kal ko Aakaar doon, Yahi hai mera Dharm, Meri doosri koi Jaat na ….” will make you wonder if Ranveer had this skill before.

Before releasing the trailer of the film, Ranveer Singh posted some quirky lyrics from the film Gully Boy and even shared a motion poster. In the poster, Ranveer is sporting a colourful jacket as he stands beside the title of the film.


The tagline of trailer reads, “His words will set you free,” which, as rumor has it means that the makers are focusing on Hip-Hop culture in India.

During the trailer launch, lead actor Ranveer Singh said, “When I was first asked about Gully Boy, I knew it was my film. If someone else had done it, I would have burned out of jealousy. This movie means a lot to me. It is about my city Mumbai and my lovely person Zoya Akhtar. Ritesh Sidhwani is like family. Farhan Akhtar is a renaissance man. I am still waiting for him to direct me. I am waiting from last eight years. Being with Alia, what can I say? I am thankful that she exists. She is such a great actor.”

Gully Boy is directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced by Excel Entertainment — Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The film is scheduled to be released on February 14, 2019.
