Winter is here and so is the much-awaited teaser of the epic fantasy drama, Game of Thrones Season 8. Though the final season would bring an end to an incredible journey, fans are super excited to witness it after a wait of two years.
On Tuesday, the makers of the HBO series released the first teaser of the Game of Thrones final installment on Twitter.
With a #ForTheThrone campaign, they teased the last chapter via a recap of the previous seasons. The 1.15 minute-long clip, however, did not feature any new footage and just revealed that the show is gearing up to hit HBO in April 2019.
“Every battle. Every betrayal. Every risk. Every fight. Every sacrifice. Every death. All for the throne,” it read.

The stills revisited earlier turnarounds in the life of Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister, Cersei Lannister, The Night King, Bran, and Arya Stark, including a shot from the Battle of Bastards. They also remembered departed characters such as Eddard and Catelyn Stark, Joffrey Baratheon and Hodor.
The first episode is written by Dave Hill and directed by David Nutter.
Fans couldn’t keep calm after the teaser was dropped and reached the director on Reddit AMA and bombarded him with too many queries.
Nutter swiftly dodged blurting out any spoiler and answered a few questions.
The director who has never “never directed an opening episode of GOT before until season 8” revealed that filming the last season was the “biggest challenge.” “There was not a second chance to get all of these sequences right, and a lot of sequences had many actors in them and some wonderfully intimate scenes as well,” Nutter said.
“We had a lot of rehearsal time and that was really the thing that saved me more than anything else. I’m very happy with the chance to get in there and rehearse with the actors, and I think they were too, and I think it turned out quite well,” he added.
Speaking of the comparison of Season 8 to the most notable episode, The Rains of Castamere, which is also regarded as the Red Wedding, the director said, “As far as season 8 compared to the Red Wedding I just have to tell you – hang onto your seat cause it’s going to be special.”
Interestingly, David Nutter did make a revelation about the forthcoming season. In this chapter, the White Walker army wouldn’t be the only hindrance for the characters, they will have to “also face each other.”

Finally, Nutter, who is “completely satisfied” with the finale episode, shared his views on it.
“I think that David and Dan did a tremendous job, and they took into consideration what the fans want, as well as what is right as far as storytelling is concerned. I guarantee there’s going to be lots of surprises and shocking moments, but it’s really very compelling stuff,” he said.
Based on George RR Martin’s novels, Game of Thrones is about the thrilling quest to claim the Iron Throne. It is the intricate and surprising tale that keeps one hooked to the show.
The final season of Game of Thrones will be aired in India on Star World.
