Greta Gerwig’s Little Women gets other Emma in the star cast. Earlier, Emma Stone was roped to star in the film but now the Harry Potter actress Emma Watson is in talks to join.

A source revealed to Variety that Watson is playing the part originally intended for Emma Stone. The La La Land actress was unable to join the project because of promotional obligations for the film The Favourite, reports Variety.
Grewig was earlier supposed to create a draft for Little Women but now she has taken the director’s chair. Stars like Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet and Florence Pugh are in negotiations to feature in the adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel.
Little Women follows the lives of sisters Amy, Jo, Beth and Meg and their mother in Civil War-era Massachusetts as they navigate growing up, first loves and Christmas without their father.

The film is expected to go on the floor next month and Sony Pictures has moved quickly to approach Watson. Roles are still being worked out and it is not known which sister Watson would be playing.
