Seems like 2018 is the year of Western cinema in India. Hollywood has delivered back-to-back biggest openers of the year in India. Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool 2 has opened in the Indian markets on a strong note and is among the top five biggest openers of 2018.

Deadpool 2 has commenced its theatrical run in India in a fantastic way as the film collected Rs 11.25 crore on its opening day.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the film’s opening day figures on his social media handles.

Despite being an ‘A’ rated film, Deadpool 2 opened in the Indian markets to a great response and has emerged as one of the top five biggest openers of 2018.

The five biggest openers of 2018 until now were:

Avengers: Infinity War: Rs 31.30 crore

Baaghi 2: Rs 25.10 crore

Padmaavat: Rs 19 crore

Deadpool 2: Rs 11.25 crore

Pad Man: Rs 10.26 crore

Hollywood has scored big time in India. Within a month, it has delivered two smashing hits. We all know about the record setting history of Avengers 3 and now it’ll be interesting to see how Deadpool 2 will continue to maintain its momentum.

Interestingly, among the top five biggest openers of 2018 in India, two are from Hollywood. That is something that has never been witnessed before. Avengers 3 sits atop the mountain while Deadpool 2 has grabbed the fourth spot.

Owing to its positive word of mouth publicity from fans and critics, Deadpool 2‘s dark humour, action sequences and stellar performances from Reynolds and Josh Brolin have helped to bring in the audiences to cinema houses.

Directed by David Letich, Deadpool 2 was released worldwide on May 18.
