David Schwimmer of F.R.I.E.N.D.S fame recently made headlines for a strange reason. By quirk of fate, his name got entangled in a case of restaurant robbery.

The UK Police, trying to hunt down a man for stealing a crate of beer from a restaurant, shared on social media a CCTV footage identifying the thief. “Do you recognise this man? We want to speak to him in relation to a theft at a Blackpool restaurant on the 20th September,” the Facebook post read.

Interestingly, the thief captured in the surveillance photo was a lookalike of Schwimmer, and in no time fans flooded the comment section with references to the popular 90s show, Friends. While people claimed it was the actor in the viral photo, Schwimmer had to present evidence to prove his innocence.

On Thursday, the 51-year-old actor took to Twitter and shared a video of himself, walking out of a grocery store in New York. He recreated the surveillance video and reminded us that much like his character ‘Ross’, Schwimmer too has a good sense of humor. “Officers, I swear it wasn’t me. As you can see, I was in New York. To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation. #itwasntme,” the tweet read.
