The Cannes Film Festival 2019 has begun. Apart from being a platform for recognizing path breaking cinema from across the world, Cannes is a place where some of the best fashion of the world showcases itself.
This year, no Indian film has made it to the four main competing categories of the competition, but Indian celebrities who have massive global following are making fashion statements at the prestigious affair.
While TV actor Hina Khan made a glittery debut at the Cannes opening night gala, global icon and star Priyanka Chopra made her grand entry on May 16. Deepika Padukone too made an impressionable entrance at the festival and her look has taken the social media by a storm.
Here is a complete deconstruction of the celebrities Cannes look 2019.
Deepika Padukone wore a cream gown by Peter Dundas with a chocolate brown bow stamped across the breath of the gown. Her makeup was otherwise neutral, only with dramatic kohl-rimmed eyes and a high ponytail. Deepika is representing L’Oreal, the official sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival for the third year in a row.
She is expected to walk the red carpet again on Friday and Saturday.
Her Day Two look has also created excitement among fans. Sporting a striped blue and white pant suit with nude makeup and orange pumps, the Padmaavat actor is giving summer goals to all.
Ranveer Singh complimented his wife on her show-stopping look. Fans on social media are already making comparisons between Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.

On the other hand, Priyanka Chopra wore a shimmery black gown by Roberto Cavalli. The elegant gown had a band of red on the bodice making the look more dramatic. The 36-year-old’s makeup was on point with a winged eyeliner and a pink blush lipstick to complete the look. Her hair hung down in loosely styled waves and her dangling silver earrings were not to be missed.
Her rose gold pearly gown, many fans suggest, makes the actor look pregnant.
When she attended the screening of a documentary of HIV-AIDS, 5B, she wore a white ensemble designed by Honayda. The look had an ethereal feel to it, a pleated skirt complemented by a corset top and flowy neckpiece.
Previously, Priyanka Chopra shared pictures of iconic celebrities like Lady Diana, Grace Kelly and Sophia Loren on her Instagram account with a “Cannes” caption suggesting her inspiration for her Cannes look.
The Qauntico actor is representing Chopard, a Swizz manufacturer of luxury jewellery and watches.
Kangana Ranaut, who also made her debut at the Cannes, stunned all with her dramatic and experimental fashion choices. On her first day, Ranaut donned a Kanjeevaram silk saree with a corset blouse and contrasting mauve gloves. A cultural mix of Breakfast at Tiffany’s Audrey Hepburn and her own personality, her look was designed by Falguni and Shane Peacock.
Ranaut’s second look was even more dramatic, a black and off white pantsuit with an exaggerated collar, gold trimmings and a cream bustier. Her slick hair and kohl lined eyes complimented her look making her look suave and wild at the same time.
The Queen actor is representing liquor brand Grey Goose.
Apart from these actors, L’Oreal ambassadors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor are expected at the Cannes soon as are Huma Querishi and Diana Penty.
