Vicky Kaushal reflects on ‘Sam Bahadur’ vs ‘Animal’ box office clash

Vicky Kaushal recently opened up about the box office clash between his film “Sam Bahadur” and Ranbir Kapoor’s “Animal,” likening it to a cricket Test match. Both movies hit theaters on December 1st, creating a buzz among movie buffs.

In an interview, Vicky reflected on the contrasting nature of the two films. “With Sam, we always knew it was a Test match,” he said. “It wasn’t your typical Bollywood masala flick like Animal, as Sam Bahadur had that shock value, and we knew it would make waves at the box office.”

Vicky emphasized the importance of time and word-of-mouth for “Sam Bahadur” to connect with audiences. “We knew we needed that time for the film to resonate with people. If it didn’t click with the audience, it wouldn’t matter when it was released,” he explained.

The actor expressed his delight at witnessing the gradual growth in discussions and interest surrounding “Sam Bahadur” as weeks went by. “People started talking about it more and more,” he said. “We saw that through January, Sam shows kept going on, and that gives me tremendous happiness.”

In “Sam Bahadur,” Vicky portrayed the role of Sam Manekshaw, the legendary Chief of the Army Staff during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. The film, directed by Meghna Gulzar, also starred Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh, receiving widespread critical acclaim upon its release.
