Akshay Kumar’s social drama Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which has been released as Toilet Hero in China, has managed to make an impact at the box office by collecting Rs 61.04 crore in the opening weekend.

TEPK starring Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles opened to a strong response at the box office by showing substantial growth over the weekend.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the film’s box office collections in China on his social media accounts. He also mentioned the film need to maintain its momentum for a strong first week at the box office.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is the fourth Hindi film to be released in 2018, which has performed even better than the expectations. Many trade pundits and industry trackers predicted that the film won’t be successful as the previous films released in the neighbouring country.

However, the film’s opening weekend business has certainly proved all its critics wrong and now further looks to maintain its stronghold at the box office in China.

Apparently, the film also set new records for being released in 11,500 screens in China giving the film more than 56,000 shows per day. This is another accomplishment that Bollywood has not seen in a long time.

It’ll be interesting to see that how well the film perform in China and whether it’ll be able to carve a niche for itself like superhit films like Secret Superstar, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Hindi Medium.

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, depicts the importance of toilets for women in the rural and undeveloped urban areas. The film was released in China on June 8.
