Shah Rukh Khan had done ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ for free!

Sushmita Sen and Shah Rukh Khan in 'Dulha Mil Gaya'

Shah Rukh Khan’s recent act of generosity has warmed the hearts of many as it comes to light that the Bollywood icon charged nothing for his remarkable 42-minute appearance in the 2010 film ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’. Produced by his longtime friend Vivek Vaswani, the movie starred Sushmita Sen and Fardeen Khan in lead roles.

Vaswani, reminiscing about the incident in a recent interview, shared how the idea of bringing Shah Rukh onboard came about. It was actually Sen who suggested Khan’s name for the cameo role, which sparked the collaboration. Without hesitation, Khan agreed to the part when approached by Vaswani and director Mudassar Aziz, demonstrating his unwavering support for his friend’s project.

In a candid conversation, Vaswani revealed Khan’s immediate acceptance of the role, stating, “Shah Rukh said, ‘Vivek has come for the first time. I will do the film, won’t take any money for it’.” Remarkably, Khan didn’t even bother to read the script, trusting his friend’s judgment completely.

Despite the modest nature of the role, spanning 42 minutes on screen, Khan dedicated five days to its filming, ensuring he delivered exactly what the creators envisioned. Vaswani praised Khan’s professionalism and commitment, emphasizing how the actor’s seamless portrayal exceeded expectations without any interference or script readings.

Although ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ didn’t soar at the box office, Khan’s selfless gesture strengthened his bond with Vaswani, reflecting the depth of their friendship beyond the glitz and glamour of the industry.
