Malaika Arora’s father called daughters before suicide: Mumbai Police

Anil Mehta, the father of Bollywood star Malaika Arora, has reportedly died by suicide, according to Mumbai police. The 62-year-old is said to have leaped from the terrace of his residence in Mumbai.

Authorities revealed that prior to the incident, father Anil Mehta had made distressing phone calls to his daughters, Malaika and her sister Amrita. During these calls, he expressed feelings of deep despair, telling them, “I am sick and tired,” before subsequently turning off his phone. The family attempted to reach him afterward, but were unsuccessful.

The investigation so far indicates that Mehta sustained significant injuries from the fall, including fractures to his right leg. A postmortem examination confirmed that his death was the result of multiple injuries sustained during the fall.

The Mumbai Police, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roshan, are thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding Mehta’s death. Roshan stated that forensic teams are involved in examining all aspects of the case. “The body of Anil Mehta, who lived on the 6th floor, was found and has been sent for postmortem. We are investigating all angles and our teams are working diligently to piece together the details. While the initial evidence suggests suicide, we are continuing our investigation to ensure all aspects are covered,” he said.

In addition to interviewing the Arora family, including Malaika and Amrita, the police plan to question Mehta’s doctor and other close associates to gain a comprehensive understanding of the situation.

At the time of the incident, Malaika Arora was reportedly in Pune and not present at her father’s residence. The family is grappling with the shock of their loss as the investigation continues.
