Diljit Dosanjh’s third outing in the Hindi film industry has hit on the right note with the audience as his latest film Soorma manages to perform a decent job at the box office in its opening weekend.

After delivering his breakthrough in his first film Udta Punjab and stealing the show with his performance in Welcome To New York, Diljit’s latest based on the life of Indian hockey player, Sandeep Singh, is winning hearts.

Owing to its extremely positive reception from fans and critics alike, Soorma collected Rs 13.90 crore in its opening weekend. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the film’s business on his social media handles.

Despite the immense buzz surrounding the Football World Cup final and Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju, Soorma still performed decently at the box office. The figures are impressive given the fact that the film is headed by an A-Lister and is not the typical Bollywood masala film.

However, Soorma need to perform constantly in its opening week to make a better standing at the box office.

The film is being touted as one of the best sports biopic in recent times which depicts the journey of World’s most dangerous drag-flickers, Sandeep Singh. Right from his initial days to his inspiring comeback to the game.

If one thing we have learnt from films being released so far in 2018 is the fact that you don’t need big stars, action packed sequences and rigorous promotions to deliver a hit as content prevails over everything.

Directed by Shaad Ali, Soorma also stars Taapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles and was released worldwide on July 13.
