Actor Anil Kapoor, who began his Bollywood career learning to play the harmonium for Woh Saat Din, will be now seen taking to the trumpet in his next Fanney Khan.
Even after 35 years, Kapoor’s process of understanding the instruments has remained as monotonous as it always was.
While talking about the learning process, Anil Kapoor shares, “The trumpet is an integral part of my character. It stays with him throughout the movie as a prized possession. I was excited to learn a new instrument and took lessons from professional player Ramesh Kumar Gurung.”
Despite playing a variety of instruments for his films it is the trumpet that he found the hardest to perform with. while talking on the same, Anil shares, “Playing it, and acting while playing it, are two different things. It was challenging to emote while using the instrument. My character, Fanney, plays it when he is sad or happy. So I had to make it look real.”
He further adds, “I learned to play the harmonium from Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan. Music has played an integral part in my career. I understood melody and rhythm through the characters I have played”.
Fanney Khan has been making immense buzz ever since the announcement. The film brings back Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya together after 17 years after Taal.
A one of its kind musical comedy, the film is an official adaptation of Dutch film Everybody’s Famous and will narrate the story of a father played by Kapoor who wishes to fulfill the dreams of his daughter who is an aspiring singer.
The film also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the sensational singer Baby and Rajkummar Rao as her love-interest.
Directed by Atul Manjrekar, Fanney Khan is set to release on August 3.
