B-Town celebs share fond memories of Yash Chopra on his 87th birth anniversary

On the occasion of veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra’s 87th birth anniversary, Bollywood celebrities shared heartfelt messages for the man who gave many blockbusters to the Hindi film industry, most of which went on to become cult favourites across the world.

Producer and filmmaker Karan Johar shared a throwback video conversation with the legend along with a note that read, “Yash uncles birthday today! He will always remain my hugest inspiration and am honoured to have been fathered by him in cinema and in life…sharing an in conversation I had with him many years ago about my all time favourite film LAMHE.”

Calling Yash Chopra, a pioneer of Indian cinema, Ayushmann Khurrana wrote on Twitter, “A legend who created many masterpieces that have a special place in our hearts! Honouring the pioneer of the Indian film industry – #YashChopra ji on his birth anniversary.”

Parineeti Chopra also shared a heartfelt message on Twitter, sharing that from being a YRF employee to an actor who regularly received Yash Raj’s phonecalls, her association with him was a blessing.

” One of my life’s privileges was eating aloo parathas with Yashji regularly when I was his employee at YRF. Then I became his actor and would look forward to his 7am phonecalls after he watched my movies. WHAT a blessing.Miss you #Yashji.There will never be another like you…”

Actors Diya Dutta and Arjun Kapoor also penned emotional posts for the veteran on social media.

Yash Raj Chopra began his career as an assistant director to IS Johar and his elder brother BR Chopra. Chopra made his directorial debut with Dhool Ka Phool in 1959, but rose to prominence with his critically and commercially acclaimed film Dharamputra in 1961.

A six-time recipient of National Film Awards, he was also honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2001 and the Indian civilian award Padma Bhusan in 2005.

His last directed film was the blockbuster Jab Tak Hai Jaan in 2012.
