As England created history after lifting their first ever trophy in the ICC World Cup 2019 at the Lord’s Cricket Ground on Sunday, fans and celebrities across the world shared their views and congratulatory messages on the match and the winners.

B-Town celebs also reacted to the final England and New Zealand match that came to a draw and had to be settled with a super over. The winner could not be decided as both the 50 overs match and super-over action ended up in a tie. In the super over, England scored 15 runs and were able to restrict New Zealand too at 15 runs. The former team won the match as they scored more boundaries in the match.

As soon as the victory was announced, fans from across the world took to social media to congratulate Team England. On the other hand, Bollywood celebrities too shared their thoughts on the match, while some hailed England for its gameplay others were unhappy with the way the team won the final.

Here is how some of them responded.

Riteish Deshmukh after congratulating the England team and called the Black Caps “the uncrwoned chaps”.

Karan Johar who was rooting for New Zealan, tweeted, ” England had a better kundli! NZ had the better game!!!(sic)”

Varun Dhawan wrote, ” What a #WorldCupfinal. Unbelievable my entire familt is awake. Who u got.”

Like many fans, Sidharth Malhotra also found the match ” crazy, mad and emotional.”

Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap called the rules of the game ‘stupid’. He also hailed New Zealand as the ‘true winner’.

“If in a super over a country can win by the virtue of more boundaries then why can a country not win by the virtue of losing lesser wickets in the actual match? There is a serious problem with the your rules @ICC @cricketworldcup”. He further wrote, “Honestly speaking @ICC has made cricket such a batsmen game and wickets really don’t matter. Its all about the batsmen scores & the wickets are treated like the lower caste. If there was equality between bowling and batting .. New Zealand would be a winner today @cricketworldcup.”

Anupam Kher also called New Zealand a “team of heroes” and congratulated Team England while calling cricket “the true winner.”

Raveena Tandon wrote, “Jokes apart . @benstokes38 battled it out valiantly! He truly deserves the victory. #ICCCricketWorldCup2019”
