When it comes to getting under the skin of the characters, actors have been known to go the extra mile to get it right. Physical transformations have been something that a lot of actors have been doing over the past few years to become the person they are playing on the screen.

However, quite a few actors are ready to sport hairdos that don’t stick to their status quo. Let’s take a look at 5 actors who voluntarily underwent drastic hair transformations to sport edgy looks for their roles.

Amyra Dastur

For her soon-to-release film, Rajma Chawal, directed by Leena Yadav, Amyra shaved the side of her head without batting an eyelid, in order to play the role of a young rebellious girl who is a professional hair stylist. Amyra took inspiration from real life hairstylist Sapna Bhavnani and Hollywood actress Rooney Mara’s Girl with the Dragon Tattoo look to get her to look for the role spot on.

Yami Gautam

Yami Gautam is the latest actress to join the bandwagon of chopping tresses for a role. The Kaabil actress, who has never had such a drastic hair change prior to her current semi-long bob, underwent the transformation rather bravely. For someone who had luscious long locks, Yami is rocking the bob for her role in Uri.

Ranveer Singh

The reigning king of crazy, Ranveer Singh went bald for his role of Peshwa Bajirao in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama, Bajirao Mastani. Not only did Ranveer sport the authentic Brahmin ‘choti’ with a shaved head on the screen, but was also seen rocking the look at several public events.

Aamir Khan

The true perfectionist in Bollywood rocked a buzz cut with a rather wacky styling to play Sanjay Sharma in the 2008 neo-noir psychological thriller, Ghajini. So edgy was Aamir’s look, that his fans went ballistic, wanting to get a similar hairdo done, starting a rather quirky trend of hairstyles that year.

Vicky Kaushal

Vicky Kaushal, who has been basking in the glory of Sanju’s success, has an upcoming romantic drama in the form of Anurag Kashyap’s film, Manmarziyaan. Vicky’s hairdo in the film is super cool, with the front part of his hair coloured blue, gold and green to stand out in a crop of black and the Masaan actor has also looked extremely adorable donning the hairdo.
