Alia Bhatt’s espionage thriller Raazi is enjoying a dream run at the box office by collecting Rs 32.94-crore in its opening weekend.

Raazi, a film based on the acclaimed novel Calling Sehmat, opened to positive receptions and strong word of mouth from both the fans and critics, which helped the film in attracting audiences to cinema houses.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film collected Rs 14.11 crore on May 13 taking the total collections of the film to Rs 32.94 crore.

Apparently, Raazi‘s opening weekend collection is on a par with some of the Bollywood biggies released in 2018 and has even surpassed the lifetime collections of many films like Aiyaary, Blackmail and Kaalakandi.

The top 5 opening weekends at the box office in 2018 are as follows;

Padmaavat: Rs 114 crore (extended weekend)

Baaghi 2: Rs 73.10 crore

Raid: 41.01 crore

Pad Man: 40.05 crore

Raazi: Rs 32.94 crore

The film is doing exceptionally well considering the fact that it is facing a major competition from Hollywood’s Avengers: Infinity War, which is still continuing its historic run in India, and 102 Not Out, which also witnessed a substantial growth over its second weekend.

Now, Raazi has commenced its first day of the week and it’ll be interesting to see film’s collection on the first Monday. First Mondays are always crucial for any film as it determines how well the film will perform in the opening week.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Raazi, also starring Vicky Kaushal, Rajit Kapur and Soni Razadan in pivotal roles was released worldwide on May 11.
