Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy’s Gold enters Rs 100 crore club at box office

Akshay Kumar’s latest film Gold has been winning hearts everywhere. The film successfully raked in Rs 100.45 crore at the box office and is still continuing its dream run.

On an opening day, the film collected Rs 25.25 crore and then it saw a dip on the following weekdays. But by the second weekend, the Mouni Roy starrer Gold been minted Rs 89.30 crore.

Reema Kagti’s directorial is doing well and scoring over John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate, which released the same day (August 15) as Gold.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to his social media handle and announced that the film has now entered the Rs 100 crore club. Taran Adarsh tweet reads as, “#Gold crosses 100 cr mark on Day 13… [Week 2] Fri 1.85 cr, Sat 3.10 cr, Sun 4.75 cr, Mon 1.45 cr. Total: 100.45 cr. India biz… Akshay Kumar’s ninth film in 100 cr Club.”

The story of the film shows Akshay Kumar plays a man who brings together a men’s hockey team to achieve the dream of winning the Olympics Gold.

Gold not only marks the first ever association between Akshay Kumar and Excel Entertainment led by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar but is also the debut film of TV sensation Mouni Roy. The film was released on August 15, 2018.
