Adil Hussain dedicates Norwegian film honour to Assam’s Goalpara

Bollywood actor Adil Hussain won the Best Actor’s Award at the Amanda Award or the Norwegian National Award.  The Scandinavian country’s top national film honour was established in 1985. The English Vinglish actor has dedicated the award to Goalpara in Assam. The 55-year-old actor was born in the Goalpara, he left home when he was 18 and started off his acting career with a mobile theatre group.

The actor learnt three weeks ago that he has been nominated for the award. In 2017, he starred in the film What Will People Say by Iram Haq which fetched him the nomination. On Sunday, Adil took to Twitter and said that the award is for all those who believe that art can break boundaries.

“Grateful to have Received the Amanda Awards Norwegia National Awards for Best Actor in a leading role for, brilliantly directed by Iram Haq. This award is for Goalpara, Assam, India for all those who believe that art can break all boundaries of all kinds,” he wrote.

The film What Will People Say is set in Pakistan and Norway and traces how a Pakistani immigrant family deals with its teenage daughter’s affair with a local boy in Norway.
