A 25-year-old woman Naxal, carrying a cash reward of Rs3 lakh on her head, on Tuesday surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district, police said.

Bisanti Netam alias Jano turned herself in before Kondagaon Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallav, citing disappointment with the “hollow” ideology of Naxals, Kondagaon Additional Superintendent of Police Maheshwar Nag told PTI.

She also told the police that she was impressed by provisions of the state government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, he said.

Netam, who hails from Dhaudai area in the neighbouring Narayanpur district, was active as a member of the Bayanar local guerrilla squad of Maoists, he said, adding that she was carrying a reward of Rs 3 lakh on her head.

She will be provided facilities as per norms of the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, Nag said.

On June 23, a Maoist deputy commander, also carrying cash reward of Rs 3 lakh on his head, had surrendered before the Kondagaon police.
