Amidst intensifying protests against the controversial film ‘Padmaavat’, the Delhi Police on Friday assured that the release of the film be “hassle-free” in the national capital.
Chief Spokesperson of Delhi Police, Deependra Pathak said: “Delhi Police will maintain security at all cinema halls and we are constantly in touch with the management of cinema halls.”
“We believe film will release here hassle-free,” he added.
Activists of the Rajput Karni Sena have been threatening to vandalise cinema halls that will screen the film despite the Supreme Court (SC) and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) giving their nods to its release.
The CBFC had on December 30, 2017 gave Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ a UA certificate and suggested the director to change the film’s title to ‘Padmaavat’.
Meanwhile, the Rajput Karni Sena on Friday slammed CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi for clearing the film and said that he won’t be allowed to enter Rajasthan or take part in the Jaipur Lit Fest that begins on January 25.
On Thursday, hours after the apex court lifted a ban on the film ‘Padmaavat’ by some states, activists of Karni Sena attacked a cinema hall in Bihar and tore down posters of the movie.
