The West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department on Friday arrested three Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leaders from Gurugram near the national capital for their alleged involvement in violence and arson in the Darjeeling hills, an official said.
“D.K. Pradhan, Tilak Roka and P.T. Ola have been arrested in Gurugram today. They were all wanted in the Bhanu Bhavan violence case in June this year, registered under the Darjeeling Sadar police station,” a CID official said.
The three accused were slapped with charges under various sections of the IPC for rioting, using explosives or fire to cause damage to property, deterring public servants from duty and causing grievous hurt, the CID said.
Among the three, Pradhan and Roka were named in the arrest warrant issued by state CID on September 6, along with GJM chief Bimal Gurung and party general secretary Roshan Giri.
The three leaders were present in the GJM delegation that met the Home Minister Rajnath Singh a few days back to press for their statehood demand of Gorkhaland.
