Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav Gehlot and BJP’s Churu MP Rahul Kaswan are among 10 Congress candidates, who have been fielded for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Rajasthan.
Vaibhav, who lost previous LS poll to BJP’s Gajendra Singh Shekhawa, presently the Union Minister for Jal Shakti, has been fielded from Jalore.
He recently resigned from the post of RCA President following political controversy ahead of an IPL match scheduled later this month. Except Vaibhav, who lost the last LS poll, the party has not repeated anyone who could win the last Lok Sabha polls.
Kaswan, BJP MP from Churu who was denied ticket by the saffron party, joined the Congress in Delhi in the presence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, only yesterday. He has been given the ticket from Churu.
On Tonk LS seat, the Congress fielded IPS, former DGP, and present MLA Harish Meena. In the last 2014 LS polls, Harish’s elder brother Namo Narayan Meena had lost the poll battle against BJP’s present MP S S Jaunapuria.
The Congress has fielded Govind Ram Meghawal from Bikaner, Karan Singh from Jodhpur, MLA Brijendra Ola from Jhunjhunu, Lalit Yadav from Alwar, Sanjana Jatav from Bharatpur, Tarachand Meena from Udaipur, and Udailal Anjana from Chittorgarh.
Earlier on March 3, the BJP announced 15 contestants out of 25 Lok Sabha seats at stake in the state.
