Around 35 lakh employees, teachers and pensioners of the Uttar Pradesh government will get hiked dearness allowance (DA) as a Holi gift.

The state government has agreed to increase 4% DA from January, 2024. The hiked DA will be given in the salary of April or May, official sources here on Monday said.

This DA increase will put an additional burden of about Rs 350 crore on the government exchequer. An order in this regard will be issued soon.

Last week, the central government had announced to give four percent additional dearness allowance.

On Saturday, the proposal to give dearness allowance to state employees was approved.

With an increase of four per cent, dearness allowance will reach to 50 per cent. About 11.5 lakh employees, 8 lakh teachers and 15.5 lakh pensioners will benefit from this.
