UP court awards death penalty to convict in POCSO case

In a record time a local court in Mathura has awarded capital punishment to a youth for rape and murder of a minor girl within 26 days after submission of the chargesheet by the police.
Additional session and special judge ( POSCo Act)  Vipin Kumar pronounced the judgement on Friday. Along with capital punishment , the court also imposed a fine of Rs 45,000 on the convict.
According to the prosecution, the FIR against the accused was lodged at Jaith police station in Mathura district by the mother of the victim stating at the youth took her 10-year-old old daughter to a village fair on Octo13, 2022 and later murdered her after rape. The body of the victim was recovered by police from the jungle area near PMB Polytechnic  College. On November 14 last police submitted a charge sheet against the accused. Later during trial the accused accepted his crime which led to his early conviction.
The court ordered that 80% of the fine money would be given to the parents of the victim.
