Dr Shashi Kumar Sharma, a scientist of the Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni will attend the prestigious Fulbright- Nehru International Education Administrators Seminar.
The seminar is being held in the US from 20 October to 3 November by the United States–India Education Foundation (USIEF).
He is among the 14 selected from renowned institutions from across the country to attend the seminar.
The USIEF promotes mutual understanding between India and US through exchange of outstanding scholars and professionals.
The Fulbright Nehru International Education Administrators Seminar is an exclusive programme of the USIEF for university and college administrators for grooming their multi-facet skills in research collaborations, accreditation, faculty-student exchanges and building an atmosphere where students and researchers can attain skills in solving public problems with critical thinking and commitment to social service.
Hailing from Hamirpur, Dr Shashi is presently heading the University’s Regional Horticulture Research and Training Station and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sharbo (Kinnaur) as Associate Director (Research and Extension).
He has served the University in various research, teaching and extension education capacities before taking up the present assignment.
At the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, he has been directly associated with the transfer of University technology to the farmers of Kinnaur district.
Dr Sharma foresees this programme as an opportunity for capacity building for understanding the complexities of higher education administration and maintaining a balance between leadership role and productive output.
The visiting Fulbright Scholars will be demonstrated the synergism of different branches of science and humanities for the sustenance of peace and prosperity across the globe.
