UGC restores recognition to Himachal Pradesh University’s distance learning centre

A notification has been issued by the UGC in this regard clarifying the continuation of recognition to the three Under Graduate, 15 Post Graduate, and five Diploma Courses. (SNS)


The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Monday restored recognition to the courses being run by International Centre for Distance Education and Open Learning (ICDEOL) of the Himachal Pradesh University.

A notification has been issued by the UGC in this regard clarifying the continuation of recognition to the three Under Graduate, 15 Post Graduate, and five Diploma Courses.

HPU Vice-Chancellor Prof Sikander Kumar has conveyed his gratitude and thanked the Governor and Chancellor of HPU Acharya Devvrat, Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj and UGC Chairman D P Singh in getting the recognition to the ICDEOL Courses.

The decision has saved the future of thousands of students enrolled with this center, he added.

Kumar said that the courses would be updated as per the requirement of UGC and most modern facilities would be provided to ICDEOL to make the courses more relevant and vibrant.
