The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) will organise ‘Thank You Himachal’ event in Shimla on 15 October to thank the government and people of the state.
A CTA official said Governor Acharya Devvrat and former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh will grace the event.
Besides this, Tibetan dignitaries as CTA president Lobsang Sangay, Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Minister of Department of Finance Karma Yeshi, Minister of Department of Health Choekyong Wangchuk, Central Tibetan Administration and Chief Representative Officer, Shimla would also participate in the event.
“Dharamsala became the headquarters of Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama and Central Tibetan Administration since 1960. Dalai Lama calls Himachal Pradesh as his second home and 31 March marked the beginning of the 60th year since Dalai Lama stepped on the sacred land of India,” he said.
Marking the historic milestone, Tibetans across India are observing the year 2018 with a series of pan-India events to publicly thank the great country and people of India for providing utmost support for the CTA and the Tibetan people.
The daylong event will feature public address by dignitaries, cultural performances by Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, Tibetan religious and cultural exhibitions, photo exhibition titled ‘India and Tibet: Ancient Ties, Current Bonds’ and ‘A Long Look Homeward’, free medical checkup by Tibetan Medical and Astro Institute and display of Tibetan handloom carpets.
